Bob Friel’s book COLT sells at auction to Hyperion

Bob Friel - Outside Magazine - Colton Harris-Moore - The Veltre Company - Literary Agency - BookIn an auction with eight bidders, Elisabeth Dyssegaard at Hyperion won North American rights, in a significant deal, to Bob Friel’s Colt. The book is expanded from an Outside magazine story Friel wrote called “The Ballad of Colton Harris-Moore,” about the titular 18-year-old alleged criminal. Bestselling Thriller Novelist Jason Pinter Gets Two-Book Deal for YA Series

Author Photo of Jason Pinter - The Veltre CompanyFrom Galleycat: Thriller novelist Jason Pinter sells a new YA series, Zeke Bartholomew: Superspy! in a two-book deal. The books sold to Jabberwocky senior editor Daniel Ehrenhaft, and the deal was negotiated by Joe Veltre at The Veltre Company.

“Here’s more from Pinter: “Zeke is just like me and just like you. He’s not very popular, kind of dorky, not particularly brave, not particularly skilled, and must rely on the same things you or I might if we were tasked with saving the world (that’s where the dumb luck part comes in). These books will be funny and full of adventure and I can’t wait to share more about Zeke’s world with you. There will be action, humor, and a whole lot of gadgets that seem to serve no purpose whatsoever (but maybe Zeke will find a use for them).”

Not only are the historical details well presented but the love story that unfolds is exciting and beautiful. Filled with excerpts of Donne’s poetry, this love story is not to be missed.”

Jason Pinter writes in Huffington Post on “The Top 10 Horror Inspirations of Seth Grahame-Smith, author of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter”

In April 2009, Seth Grahame-Smith created a monster when Quirk Books released his literary/horror mashup Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, in which the author infused Jane Austen’s classic tome with “ultraviolent zombie mayhem” (which, frankly, is the only worthwhile kind of zombie mayhem). The book became a surprise smash hit, spending 39 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list and spawning a litter of genetically enhanced successors including Sense and Sensibility and Sea MonstersAndroid Karenina and Pride and Prejudice: Dawn of the Dreadfuls……Read more: http://bit.ly/aDhAij

From the South Florida Sun-Sentinel -

“A nail-biting thriller as well as a novel about loyalty and friendship. Morris keeps the action brisk as he island-hops throughout the Bahamas. His affection for the Bahamas shines as he showcases the islands’ history and scenery and gives an insider’s view of the hidden Bahamas — and its residents — that tourists never see….Baja Florida [is] a smooth glide across the Atlantic….”
